Born in Ye County, Shandong province, Cui Kai Xi joined the army in the early 50s' and subsequently studied oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts from 1963 to 1965. Unsurprisingly, his oil paintings have always concentrated on military themes, such as “After the rehearse”, which participated in the National Army Exhibition and “He Long and Ren Bi-shi in the Long March”, which won Silver Prize at the 6th National Exhibition and was collected by the Chinese Military Museum. Cui has also published “Cui Kai-xi Landscape Oil Paintings”
